Ingredients
- 1 Medium Sized Bottled Gourd (cut into bite sizes)
- 1 Large Onion (finely chopped)
- 3 Pips Garlic (finely chopped)
- 1/2 Inch Ginger (finely chopped)
- 1 Green/Red Chilly (finely chopped)
- 2 Stalks Coriander (chopped)
- 1/4 teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1 Egg (optional)
- Salt (to taste)
- 2 tablespoon Butter or Oil
Instructions
- Wash and chop the bottle gourd into bite sizes)
- Fry the cumin seeds, onion, garlic, ginger and chilly in some butter till slightly brown.
- Add in the spices and chopped coriander and saute for 5 minutes.
- Add water and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add in the bottled gourd and mix thoroughly on medium heat.
- Cover it for 15 minutes and add water if necessary as the moisture from the bottled gourd will be there.
- Add salt and stir.
- Cook for further 20 minutes till bottled gourd is tender to touch.
- We add 1 egg to it and mix well.
- Serve with rotis, rice and other dishes. **my MAA used to ask our helpers to add some fresh milk in the evenings for dinner if there were left overs** her favourite vegetable.Even I tried it... Yummy
