Kabuli Chana Aloo


  • 1 Cup Kabuli Chana (boiled in salt water and tea leaves liquid and then drain them)
  • 1 Large Onion
  • 3 Pips Garlic
  • 1 Inch Ginger
  • 3 Fresh red chillies
  • 1 Large Tomato
  • 2 Stalks Coriander leaves (All the above ingredients to be grinded)
  • 2 Large Potatoes (diced into bite size)
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Curry Powder
  • A pinch of crushed methi seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ammchur (mango powder)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Oil
  • Coriander (for garnishing)


  1. Heat oil in a pan. Fry the grinded ingredients till its cooked and fragrant.
  2. Add in the powder spices and cook with adding water. Cook on medium heat with lid close. Roughly 30 mins.
  3. Once mixture is done, add in the kabuli channa and mix well. Water can be added if necessary.
  4. When its half way cooked,add in the potatoes and simmer for another 15 mins. Check if the potatoes are done. Add in chopped coriander leaves and off the flame.
  5. Ready to be served with puris, bhature or rise. Add in onion rings and lemon wedges to decorate the dish.
