Rajma with pumpkin


  • 1 Cup Rajma (Kidney Beans) (boiled)
  • 1 Medium Pumpkin (cut into cubes)
  • 2 Medium Onions (chopped)
  • 3 Pips Garlic (chopped)
  • 1/2 Inch Ginger (chopped)
  • 2 Fresh Green Chillies (sliced lengthwise)
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1 teaspoon Curry Powder
  • Pinch of cumin seeds
  • Coriander (chopped finely)
  • 1 Medium Tomato (cut into 2 pieces)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Oil


  1. Wash the boiled rajma (kidney beans) under running water and drain.
  2. Put oil in a pan on medium heat and fry the cumin seeds till they crackle.
  3. Add the onion, garlic, ginger, and chillies and fry till fragrant. Add tomatoes and salt.
  4. Add in the pumpkin and cook for 15 minutes. Do not over cook it.
  5. Add in the spice powders and stir.
  6. Add in the boiled kidney beans and further cook for 15 minutes.
  7. Garnish it with coriander leaves and serve it hot with rotis/rice/yogurt/pappadams.
